Seems that there is a program writing files to the disc. Any suggestions. I can't open my received mail file. Outlook express stops responding. Very frustrating. Can't find any virus. Need help!

ummm ..... well .. sounds fishy when you say that there is a program writing to disk. Is your antivirus updated ?

Click on the link below and do that ONLINE Virus scan .. see what it says.

    Panda Virus Scan

If you have problems getting that page to load let me know.
If it says your clean then we work on fixing Outlook Express.

    Good Luck :D

Goto ADD/REMOVE programs and remove Outlook Express then go to this link Internet Explorer

and dowload the Internet Explorer installation file, when you run it, select CUSTOM. Then scroll down to Outlook Express to reinstall it.

    Hope this helps :D

I downloaded MS Outlook again, and did the custom thing, however to no avail. Now my Word files will not open in MS word. Hmm, this is strange. They say MS Word is not rresponding , as is the case with MS Outlook. Any ideas.

    Thanks.

now MS Word wont work ? .. hee hee we going backwards here.
I suggest you run SCANDISK If your on Win98/98SE run System File Checker
[Click on Start > Run and type SFC]

If SFC finds the User.exe and Setup??.dll dont fix em, your pc might not boot .... It happened to me, but I recovered system by doing a scanreg /restore

    Then run virus scan again.

    Then reinstall MS Word.

    Are you using IE6 and OE6 ?
