I'm at the end of my rope. Since getting a laptop with 8.1 and having Office 365 with Outlook for mail, I can't get the right settings for the mail between this and my phone. I used to have Messenger.

Since using Outlook, the problem is that if I'm on my phone during the day and DO NOT open an email, nor the email button on my phone, it still shows up on my laptop computer as being already read in Outlook. It's diving me mad as I can't tell what is read and what isn't anymore.

I use the laptop as my main mail. It is set to delete after reading on my laptop. On my phone, it is set to stay on the server. But I can read one email on my phone, and not open any other unread email on my phone, go back to my office and all my mail that my phone received, shows that it's been read. It's wreaking havoc and wasting my time, trying to figure out what has or has not been read.

GRRRR... Help!

Let me edit to say that I despise responding by email on my phone. So I may only look at what came in, without opening them. Then I know what I need to respond to at home. Except I don't because they show as being read.

if you are using pop3 for your emails, try imap instead. also, you can create a folder and move emails on your phone to it as you read them.

Mmm. I don't understand moving emails, but I can pretty much guarantee that won't work. My computer thinks all of them are read even though they're not open. As far as "IMAP" can you simply change it from pop3 to imap? I didn't have this problem with Windows Essentials mail, only outlook.
