Suddenly I started receiving messages in outlook like DEAMON delivery messages and they are from people to whom I never sent messages. I haven't downloaded anything recently except a patch I received from Microsoft. Please tell me I didn't download a virus. If I did...how do I fix it. I've received over 100 delivery failure messages in the past ten minutes.

    HELP

When you say that you downloaded the patch you 'recieved' from Microsoft, I hope by that you mean from Microsofts official windows update website. If you recieved a patch in your mail then you most likely have downloaded a baddie! :(

Don't fret yet though. Let's take a look at what's running on your machine. Go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

You can also try an online virus scan here:
    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
to help identify an possible virus/trojan that's installed itself.

or...check under your root C: directory for this: C:\Program Files\Client Man

If there, run updated Spybot to remove

Correction, it seems that although [email protected] was a virus posing as a Microsoft patch being sent around recently, there has been a new one that is spreading today. Check this thread:
    http://forums.techguy.org/t165723/s.html

A good tip is to ignore any so called patches you recieve in your mail. You don't think M$ have suddenly grown a heart and started personally grooming their customers do you?
