Have got a highly unstable - freezing / crashing OS - ( Windows XP Home Edit. ) running on a fairly well specified PC -- Athlon 2500 processor , 512 MB DDR RAM , 120 GB HDD etc which no amount of tinkering over the last couple of years has been able to cure . Want to change to XP Pro. anyway and do not think that an upgrade package grafted onto my unstable base is a clever way to go about matters .
Has anyone any views on the possibility of carrying out an overlay installation of XP Pro onto my XP Home base ( after uninstalling everything other than the basic OS plus usual add-ons such as Outlook & IE ) or am I faced with reformatting my HDD and starting from scratch ?
