I'm currently working on fixing my friends Packard Bell Legend 812CD. I get a series of 4 long beeps and then that's it. Can someone please help me out as to what the problem might be. I need to know instantly. Thanx

The most common reason for the floppy drive light staying on is the gray cable connecting to it is reversed....Has anyone been playing around inside the computer lately and/or has the floppy drive worked recently?

Check this out now. I just have the hd hooked up nothing else. I get no beeping at all. Now I am stuck with no video, and the system busy indicator stays on but there is no action.

Is there an operating system on the hard drive?

Are there any other add in cards in the computer? If so, remove everything except the video card.....reseat the video card, cpu and ram and try it again.

Oh, and also, double check the power supply connection to the motherboard.....disconnect, and reconnect it...make sure it is secure.....

Ok, now we have to get down to the sometimes silly questions....but trust me, it's happened....

The monitor light is on, correct? You have the monitor turned on, before powering up the PC, correct? Do you hear anything coming from the monitor when the computer is being powered up? Do you have another computer you can try the monitor on? Do you have another video card you can try?

If negative....what is the history of the computer.....

And another thing, try the video card in a different slot, if that is an option.....

Yea. Monitor works tried it on the laptop. There's a built on video card which doesn't seem to be working either.

with onbiard video, it uses some of the memory. Have you tried different memory in it or tried that memory in an other machine?
