I have Open Office on Vista. I am trying without success to do something which I have done in the past without difficulty, but have forgotten: consecutive page numbering in a large document. I have the chapter number centrally in the header. This remains the same to the end of the chapter. I want to put consecutive page numbers next to the chapter number, separate by a hyphen: 38 - 1 38 - 2 38:3 and so on. When I do Insert/ Fields/ Page number, I end up with a red triangle (arrow head) overlapping my chapter number, which I cannot get rid of, and no page number. What does the red triangle mean, and how can I progress? Allan.
