    Hi,

I *think* the reason I'm having this problem is due to something new I've installed on my computer in the last month or so, but I'm not positive *which* program would be causing this problem or if I'm way off base. Basically what happens is that I will be online and suddenly, no page will load anymore. This happens randomly, usually two or three times a day. Each time this happens, I am *still* connected to the internet but I cannot view anything. I have to disconnect and reconnect before it will work properly.

I have Windows XP, use Internet Explorer, connect using NetZero (on dial-up believe it or not - I know, I'm poor!!), run Zone Alarm Security Suite, and Cookiegal recently suggested I download a few programs because of previous virus issues I'd been having. So my newer programs are: trial version of Ewido Anti-Malware, CleanUp 40, Spyware Blaster, Spyware Guard. If I remember correctly, Spyware Guard said that it might affect my internet connection, so I always exit the program every time I turn on my computer and no longer use it, to see if that would fix the problem, but it didn't. Would I need to uninstall Spyware Guard altogether or could the problem be coming from elsewhere?

I just did a *lot* of clean up on my computer, thanks to you guys, so I'm not sure why this would have cropped up. Also, the whole internet has been running significantly slower for me in the last few weeks - not sure if that's related or not. Here's a HijackThis log if it helps:

I think it could be that your DHCP server is not in the Trusted Zone of your ZASS > Firewall > Zones panel. Here's what you should try.

    1. Go to Run type in command , hit 'ok', and type ipconfig /all then press enter. In the returned data list will be a line DNS and DHCP Servers with the IP address(s) listed out to the side.
    2. In ZA on your machine on the Firewall>Zones tab click Add and then select IP Address. Make sure the Zone is set to Trusted.
    3. Click OK and then Apply and see if that works to fix it..

    Hi Bill,

When I typed in "command", it gives me this message:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Regardless of whether I click "Close" or "Ignore", it takes me out it all together and doesn't let me do anything... does that mean anything to you? (Sorry, I don't know anything about the technical side of computers...) Thanks!
