paralle port problems

    has anyone seen this message?"the parallel port is in the old"spp"mode. if so how do I switch modes?

    You change the mode in the bios setup, usually under 'integrated peripherals' or something similar. There are three modes you can pick, and sometimes there are various 'combo' modes. Spp the standard port, Epp (enhanced parallel port) is bidirectional, which some printers need, Ecp (enhanced capabilities port) uses a dma channel in addition to the bidirectional communication. See what mode your device needs and try the different settings to see which works best.
