I am having a problem with low disk space on my local drive c i have a partition but when i set it up a very long time ago i put 15 gigs on the d: drive and left only 2 on the c: drive and what i am asking is if it is possible to transfer some memory from my partition d: back to the c: and if so what is the best way to do so for a novice with little experience. My os is windows xp home edition drive. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

You're not transferring memory, you're transferring hard drive space. They are two very different things.
