My computer doesn't remember passwords for more than one day. What would be causing this? I have a win98 SE computer. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Boiot to Safe Mode then:

Internet Explorer 5.x/6.x comes with a repair tool. To use it, go to the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel; Scroll and click to highlight 'Microsoft Internet Explorer 5/6.x' in the Install/Uninstall window; Then click on the Add/Remove button; Select 'Repair' the current installation of Internet Explorer radio button; Click on OK. Restart your computer when prompted.

It's because either the website does not let passwords be saved any more or, your browser's cache for password/forms needs to be reset. A website might require passwords be typed in every time to avoid Distributed Denial of Sevice Attacks (DDoS) be done against this website. I've reset my IE passwords/forms cache and I still have to type in a password but not user-name now, OK?

Here, do this first closing, not minimizing, Internet Explorer. Worked for me so far:

Open Internet Explorer (IE); Tools menu; Internet Options; Advanced tab; Click the Restore Defaults button; Click Apply; Click Ok. Close IE.

Open (IE); Click the Tools menu; Point to Internet Options; Click the Security tab; Click the Default Level button; Click Apply; Click Ok. Close IE.

Open IE; Click the Tools menu; Internet Options; Click the Security tab; Click the Custom Level button; Click Apply; Click Ok. Close IE. Start IE as desired.

    ***
Then reset your browser pw/form Cache:

With IE open click Tools; Internet Options; Content tab; click the Auto-complete button; click the appropriate button to Clear passwords or forms. click the Ok button.

Ok, that above didn't work. Try not using the logout link, Ok? Just close your browser with the X at upper right.

    Hi 24giovanni,

i think the cookies are tied up with remembering
    your name and so on,
it is possible that they may not be enabled ... ?

    worth a check, John :)

I don't have the option to enable or disabling cookies. Why is that? How do I install this option if at all possible?

    John1,

I encountered the same probs as the other day again. I am curious as to why I don't have the option of enabling/disabling cookies as you suggested earlier in this thread? Is there a way to set up this option? If so, can you please tell me how.

It seems as if my cache is corrupt and may need to be fixed. Is there a way to do this?

The reason would most likely be that you don't have Microsoft Internet Explorer 6. If you had MSIE 6, you would have an additional tab in the INTERNET OPTIONS area that says "Privacy."

To check what MSIE version you have, click on HELP from the Menu bar (while in Internet Explorer) and go to ABOUT INTERNET EXPLORER. It should tell you there.

If I am wrong, please post your version (complete version) so I can make a reference. Thanks.
