I loast wireless connectivity while working on laptop, after much back and forth with Hp, My laptop went back to the factory to have a new systerm board installed. I got it back today but cannot connect to internet because it wants a new wep key. How can I find out what the new key is? Thanks for any reply. Fravir3

Hello fravir3, and welcome to TSG.

It is the same WEP wireless encryption key you used with the computer before sending it in for repair. If you can't remember what it is, you should be able to find it by temporarily using a wired connection to log into your wireless router. There should be a wireless configuration page. Some routers show the WEP key but some may hide it as asterisks. If it is hidden and you are the only person using wireless access, you can just enter a new one.

If you need to create a new key for the router, see if it and your computer support WPA-PSK encryption. It is much more secure than WEP.
