I have been having this problem on and off now for months. My PC running W98SE can't reach certain web sites such as hp.com. It won't get there via Internet Explorer or Mozilla. My Laptop running XP can reach it. Both PC's are using the same firewall. It was working for a short while after SBC updated software at their end. Now it's not working. I've uninstalled firewall and re-installed it. I've changed firewall, tried other browsers to no avail. I ran IE 6.0 browser repair, that didn't work. Any ideas are welcome.

I would have said it is one of two things,
    1) If your using different ISP's then your isp could be having down time.
    OR
2)Its a hardware problem with your modem!

It may be sites that only work with IE so are you using Netscape?

Have the latest version and ran repair.

No error msg just does nothing. When this happens there are other sites that act in the same fashion.

Have you checked to see that these sites didnt get put into the block sites list via Tools, internet options, privacy, edit and scroll thru the list. Have you tried dumping the cookies for those sites?

None of these suggestions worked. I tried other browsers, connecting direct to the DSL modem bypassing the router, nothing. Opera NG, Mozilla NG. It's got to be something in Windows and reloading most likely won't fix it. Deleted the firewall. Installed another. No good.
