I'm running a Windows 10 Home pc i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz 3.19 GHz with 16 GB of RAM. It's a 64 bit OS, x64-based processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB. I've been using it for 2 years now. A few months ago, when I would go into File Explorer, and right clicked on a folder, I would get kicked out of File Explorer. Now, when I just click on the File Explorer icon at the bottom of the screen, the whole system freezes for a few seconds and it takes forever to actually get inside the File Explorer. Recently, things got even worse - when I click on the Start Menu/Power/Shut Down nothing happens. I have to hold the Power button on the pc to shut it down now. This started happening about 2 or 3 days ago.
I used to use Norton security which was provided by COMCAST but now that COMCAST has stopped letting customers use it for free, I have gone to using the virus and threat protection that Microsoft provides with the OS. I just scanned the entire system and no threat was found.
I forgot to mention that I have two hard drives. One TB Serial ATA-600 and a SSD 7200 RPM.
Below is the info that I got when I ran that free utility provided here (not sure why Norton Securit Online is still showing up).

System: American Megatrends Inc., ver ALASKA - 1072009, s/n System Serial Number

I'd really sincerely appreciate it if someone could get me started in the right direction on how to proceed with this.
Thanks for any help.
Joe
