Trying to get my friends PC running, Pc will sit and humm when turn on, would not get past the bios, i reset the bios and got to the OS startup window then the sys shuts down.
I took the following action, i remove the h/drive and cd drive from the m/board, switch sys on and got this response from the Ami bios 2 beeps pause 1 beep plus the message cmos battrey low and cmos memory wrong.
I replaced the battrey restarted and got same response.I then replace the m/board with same make and model with same response.
I then changed to a gigabyte board, and happy days board worked reformmated drive and loaded xp and service packs, but alas system switch itself off again.
In my efforts to get this sys working i have replace p/supply , cpu fan and of course m/boards.
Would i be right to suspect that cpu could be faulty ?, that is the only conclusion i can come too.
    Would appreicate any help
    regards
