thanks Ratchet, But I found one by V3 inc. Now the only problem I have is that I keep getting a no dial-tone message. I can hear the tone when I pick up the phone, which is connected to the same modem.

Many modems will not see the dial tone unless it is pure. Make sure messages are cleared if you have voicemail or clear anything that would give a punctuated dial tone. Check whether the fax program has a modem finder applet – it might be looking on the wrong comm port.

Go to Modems in Control Panel. Make sure it is listed correctly. Go to the diagnostics tab and note the comm port it is on – make sure the fax program is looking there. Check that the driver is loaded. Go to Device Manager and check that the modem shows OK. Download the latest driver and update it. I think you can update it from either the Modems diagnostics tab or device manager.

Try the phone dialer in Programs>Accessories>Communications. If it finds a dial tone and can dial the fax program needs to be directed to the modem. If the phone dialer can’t dial you likely need a modem driver or the comm ports need to be activated in BIOS.
