I have no clue why my computer freezes when I try to view Live Scoring for my fantasy baseball team on CBS Sportsline. I'm running XP Home Edition and IE6. It only freezes for this. It will not display any scoring but does show everything else. It will lockup for 15 secs, then freeup for 3 secs, and continues to do this 15/3 thing with me ending up having to reboot. Can anyone help? I attached the source code of the page in question.
Thanks.

I'm not a code jockey so the source code would not mean much to me. My guess however, is that you have some active code blocked in your IE settings causing the problem. What, I don't know. Look in Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom and see if you have something blocked that could cause this problem.

Also, are you using a firewall? It could be the configuration of your Privacy settings there.

It is a thought anyway.

Thanks but that is not causing the problem. I'd like to add that once you go to the web page, the on/off freezing continues even after I exit IE. The computer will just keep freezing for 15 secs and unfreezing (which allows me to exit IE & reboot) for 3 secs. It's the strangest type of freezing I've ever encountered.

I'm having the same problem!! And its driving me nuts. It is the same as described except instead of freezing, my computer suddenly reboots as soon as I click on the Gamecenter link. I am totally baffled. It ran fine last year, I believe I had IE 5.5 but not positive. Looks like upgrading to IE 6.0 SP1 has had an adverse effect. ????

I've tried it on Netscape 7.1 and it works except for when the live scoring tries to update my computer- which is about every 180 seconds, the computer grinds to an absolute halt and it essentially becomes a doorstop. It takes apprx 180 seconds to get out of this loop so its constantly frozen.

I've also tried the latest version of Mozilla FireFox as mentioned by another user and I get this error constantly:
"A script on this page is causing Mozilla to run slowly, if it continues to run your computer may become uresponsive- do you want to abort the script?"
and there is only an OK box and "cancel" box.
Cancel doesnt do anything and OK only gets rid of it for about 10 seconds before it comes back.

I've written to CBS but they're borderline useless- all I get are pre-written generic help responses that dont even answer my question. I'll post anything if I get something good.

What version of IE are people using who can get this to work??
Sorry for the rant but I'm utterly confused.

I also have the same problem.

Only way I have found to fix is to uninstall all java. I deleted MS virtual machine and Sun Java. Now I'm stuck with no java but I need my fantasy scores.

There has got to be a better way.

Sounds like this problem isn't as rare as I would have initially thought! Mine does the same thing... as soon as I click on the CBS Sportline Live Scoring, I get the BSoD with the same message. I'm wondering if it doesn't have something to do with the McCafee software as I noticed someone else having the same problem uses the same anit-virus/firewall software? I've contimplated flashing my BIOS to update that, but I don't think that's the issue. I've updated my graphics card driver, and will try and update my sound card driver tonight to see if that works. Otherwise, I will pull my memory sticks one by one to see if they are suspect. If anyone has further input, please share!!

BTW, I'm running XP SP2 with IE 6.0 and McCafee Anti-Virus and Firewall software.

Sorry to bring a thread up from the grave (I found it through a Google search), but I think I may have found a solution for some of you.

I had the same exact problem, where I would either get a blue screen or my computer would reboot automatically. This was with Sun Java installed, so I figured I could maybe change some settings.

Go to your control panel, and open up the "Java Plug-In" settings. On the "Browser" tab, don't have Microsoft Internet Explorer checked. Uncheck it if it is. Apply the settings, then try Sportsline again. In the event that you do need Java, just enable it for IE again, use your program, and remember to disable it before you go back to Sportsline.

It is a pain, but it should be easier than uninstalling Java.
