I do map work on OpenStreetMap. One tool I use to map is PC Navigator. It allows you to record a route that you can later upload to OSM or use as the basework to manually edit the map. However, it requires that I purchase a GPS adapter that can connect to a PC.

I bought a GlobalSat BU-353-S4 about a year ago.

I started having problems with it 6 months later. Then, it stopped working entirely. Interestingly, the red indicator light still lights up. I decided to try it one more time downloading a Prolific USB to Serial driver for Windows 10. The red light lights up on the adapter. However, the UBS port where it’s plugged in, the indicator light won’t light. I thought about buying another one. But, a reviewer on Amazon commented about how the device seems to work for a year and then stops working. Then, he just buys another one like it’s not that big of a deal. As much as I get that, I want my adapter to last.

I found two other GPS adapters on Amazon for Bluetooth PCs:

But, before I get one or the other, I was interested in getting a USB adapter because I won’t have to recharge it. Anyone have a suggestion? Or is Bluetooth a better alternative?
