    Hello,

Can anyone please offer some advice.

I have recently purchased a new PC with windows 98 SE pre-installed.
I have setup the PC and installed all software that I require. Now for some reason when I boot up the PC the following happens:

    - Beeps twice during bootup.
    - goes directly into microsoft 98 status menu and into safe mode
    - runs scandisk
    - then goes to windows 98 screen and then hangs at a beeping
    cursor

I have rebooted and shutdown the computer many times but I still get the above result.

    Many thanks for your assistance

    Andrea

Possibility is to boot to the dos prompt and restore a previous registery

    at the c prompt type

    scanreg /restore

choose a registry from before the boot problem.

Note: You will have to reinstall anything that you installed after the restored registry date.

Hi Andrea, Its sounds like you have a memory problem. Is the PC factory built? Or did some one build it for you? You need to check to see that your memory is seated properly!
