I recently built a new PC and today I first plugged in my headset to play some games but realized the microphone attached to the headset would not work. I can hear the game but not speak to people. I tried plugging into the microphone jack but then I couldn't hear anything and the microphone would hardly pick anything up. I then tried to plug in my headset at the back in all three Jacks but they gave me a combination of not working at all, then only the mic working but not picking anything up, and only speakers working. The jack on the headset and my pc are all 3.5mm.

My microphone in its current state when I listen to a recording back of it, it sounds like I'm either quite far away from the mic or I'm underwater. I guess like someone talking to u from the other side of the window. In most cases, you can tell what I'm saying but it just seems... weird. Also, it's not too loud but there is a hissing background noise and it increases in loudness whenever I try to boost my voice as well. I've connected my mic to the pink, microphone jack on the back of my pc.

I merged both of your threads togehter as they contain a bit of different information. Please do not start more than one thread for the same issue.
