I have an HP zt1130 laptop running a intel celeron 1.13 ghz chip and windows xp home edition. It just started doing the same thing this last weekend. It will reboot to the safe mode options screen and when I pick a selection it always ends up rebooting. The day it happened, I had noticed the system would freeze up or get really sluggish. It didn't matter what I was doing when it would freeze up. I could be on the internet or checking email with outlook xp. The strange thing was that on the same day, an older pc on my home network that runs windows 2000 wouldn't boot up. It had an error with one of its system files. I had to reinstall windows xp on my laptop but I'll lose a lot of data I haven't backed up recently. So, could this be a virus of some sort?
