I am occasionally receiving a black screen with dark blue indecipherable letters, after a minute or so, pc re-boots itself.
this is on my 12yr old e-machines legacy pc, winxp, sp3. biostar mobo, 3-yr old 1tb wd hard drive (partitioned c,d,e), non-networked.
ran WD diagnostics, winxp disk checking, and stellar surface scan on the drive - no errors.
downloaded and ran biostar chipset update.
how to determine if it's the mobo, or the hard drive?
have 2 sata ports on mobo, 1 for cdrom, 1 for HD. switched cables, same errors.
the parity error mentions the "IDE" port, I have 2 of these on the mobo, both unused.
