have tried connecting the printer to another computer and facing the same issue. like they mentioned above that probably its that update that messed up things.
the router does not have a usb port and the printer does not have an ethernet port so i am out of options to use it but in this way i do currently.

I would tend to think it was one or more [or combination} of updates that caused your issue.

Do you have SMB1 file sharing enabled in programs and features? If not, enable it and see if you can find your printer.

still dont see any update from MS resolving this issue.. so is there a workaround?
Uninstalling the update should resolve the issue for now.

There are two updates and which one you have depends on the version of Windows 10 you're running:

KB5006670 for Windows 10 2004, 20H1, and 21H1, KB5006667 for Windows 10 1909.

However, doing the above will introduce security vulnerabilites so the article I orginally linked to has three other workarounds to fix it.

this has not worked
and in fact now i can see the pc on the network but getting an error that - the specified network name is no longer available
uninstalling the update isnt a solution

anything else?

You are going to have to start doing some troubleshooting. I would start by making a backup image of the system on which the printer is connected and one other system. Store these on an external or whatever. Now clean install windows on each system. Install the printer driver if necessary. See if you can access the printer. If you can, then you know it is a windows problem. You can restore the images on both systems if you want. Up to you.

If it were me, I would get either a printer with a network connection OR get a router with a usb connection on which you can connect your printer. Up to you.

If this is the router, then yes it has a usb port and it appears from the specs that there is a sharing utility just for printers.
AC1200 WiFi Router - R6120 (netgear.com)

Before spending any money, I would still do the clean installs. It costs nothing other than a little time. You can always restore the image and be right back where you started in just a few min. Up to you.

already did a clean install a few days back and the printer did start again on the network. then again stopped and then started again and now it has stopped again.. so i think the router is a good way to go as long as i wont face similar issues with the printer connected to the router directly.

There is no guarantee however [IMO] attempting to share a printer connected to a computer is about the worst way to share a printer. I would read all of the manual on that router to make sure it does what you want.

no this didnt help
dont understand why. thought formatting and reinstalling is the solution to all issues.
getting the same error "the specified network name is no longer available" when trying to add the network printer to another pc
the printer is however visible on the network against that pc on the network
reinstalling had resolved this issue the last time around.
