It's the usual story... clicked on a link that a friend had sent me in an email that I thought came from him.
It did come from his PC, but without his knowledge due to, I guess, a virus.

Initially, till about a day after the incident, the PC worked fine but then thereafter noticed that the
system was slowing down and later it started to reboot on it's own whenever I tried
to open a browser or try to run a virus scan.
Now, it doesn't even open Windows with it's usual desktop icons but reboots even before that.
Trying to boot into Safe Mode doesn't work either. Earlier it did work but not now.
I am even unable to get in to provide a HijackThis Log!
Incidentally, my PC is on a network at home.
I've typed this request for help, from another PC.

I have a Windows XP Professional with 4GB of Ram, SP2, IE6, Opera and Nod32 Antivirus,
500 GB HD and an external HD with 500Gb capacity installed.

I've received a lot of support here and once again approach this forum for help.
    Thanks in advance

    Jay

Not much we can do if the machine will not boot other than suggest a Repair of Windows.

    Thanks, Cybertech!
Will try to do a repair install then and see how it goes.
