D o you just want to do a system restore or do you want to set it back to the manufacturer settings when it was new? If you just want to do a system restore, click start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore>click on restore my system to an earlier point and pick a day and time to restore to. If you want to set it back to the manufacturer settings when it was new in the box, then hit ctrl and F11 when you see the blue bar on the top that says WWW.DELL.COM This bar will appear during the bootup process but you will have to watch for it because it will not be there long. As soon as you see it hit ctrl and F11.

But do you have a recovery disk with you to be used to restore the computer?

    Hdd has never been changed.
I want to set it back to factory settings.
Im still trying and there is no blue bar that appears. Nothing that even flashes up. Ive tried Ctrl f11 more than a dozen times now and the computer just boots.
My computer didnt come with a recovery disk.

It sounds like your restore partition is hosed up. If you go into disk management what does it show?

    Hi,
    Thanx everyone for your help.
The pc is about 3 years old. The Dell manual tells me to use the Ctrl F11 option.
I could paste the screen shot here, so i tried to add as an attachment, not sure if it worked.
