PC running a lil sluggish

    i have a 3 ghz p4, 1gb ram, 20gb hd. i just don't know wut can be makin it run slow. my laptop runs much faster than this and that only runs at 700 mhz.

    Check to see if your BIOS has a program to monitor the processors use and temp. Some programs are good, some are bad. The programs adjust your CPU speed according to the amount your computer needs. If you have a bad BIOS CPU stepping program it can lag really bad.
    This is a desktop right?
    Your PC is only as fast as your slowest component. What are it's spec's? Also, does it run slow all the time or only during certain app's?

    try looking on your task manager in processors for iosdt.exe
    if you have let me know and ill try to help

    yes these specs are for my desktop. my laptop that runs as fast as the desktop runs at 700 mhz with 512mb ram and a 10 gb hd.

    can it also be that it tries to search for old hardware that isn't used on the system anymore?
