    Hi Guys,
A friend of mine has a pc, and whenever she is on it for a short while it just shuts down. The pc then restarts on its own as if it was not shut down properly, ie scandisk runs etc.

There are no error messages or anything. The only thing I am not sure about, is if whether it is a set time that it goes off
(After 10 mins- 5mins or whatever).

It used to happen, and the message fdc failure would come up, so I uninstaled and re installed the floppy and now this message has gone, but it is still shutting down when it feels like. she is running Win 98.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot,
    Gus.

    Hi,

Have you checked to ensure that her CPU fan is still working properly? Most of the time, overheating is the cause of unexpected shutdowns.

    Good Luck,

    Columbo

    Hi columbo,
Yes I will have to check it out. It has only been doing this for about 6 weeks, so It could be a reason.
    I will keep you informed.
    Cheers for the reply,
    Gus.
