Hello. For the past months, I have been having trouble playing video games on my PC for more than 45 minutes, 1 hour. It suddenly shuts down, with no error or bsod, and in order to turn it back on, I have to restart the PSU. I thought it was an overheating problem, but I've tried playing and constantly checking for temperatures and they are in normal limits. The GPU is not very great (specs are below), it has pretty high temperatures and is pretty loud, but when the shutting down happens, it is at a maximum of 70, usually less than that, and the CPU is around 45. I believe the airflow is decent, I have 2 intake fans in the front, 2 exhaust on the top, 1 exhaust in the back. The games I was playing are not too high-end either- I remember it happening on Dying Light and Bioshock Infinite, I think it may have happened during other games as well (the games were not on the high graphics setting). I haven't tried on others, because it is frustrating to play for a while and then having to lose the progress when it shuts down.
I know the GPU is not great at all but I don't believe it's the problem, since I've had the same GPU before with an ancient motherboard, and a dual-core and I played certain games 8-9 hours without exiting and I had absolutely no problem. I tried putting it on Unigine Heaven and left it for hours and the temperatures were ok, no shutting down.
I recently had someone look into it and he said he stopped 2 of my cores because they were taking too much power, but than did not solve the issue. I should mention that when I first bought the motherboard and CPU and installed them I could not start the PC with a 500W PSU, so I tried taking out component by component to see what was taking too much power, and even with nothing but the CPU and cooler on, it would not start. So I replaced the PSU and got a 650W. I am not very tech-savvy but I think the 500 W should have been enough to power it with just the CPU on.
Another thing I tried doing was updating the BIOS, and that did not work either, and also I now have no idea how to enter BIOS because the keyboard and mouse are not active until after entering windows...Also another thing that sometimes happens is the PC will start if I accidentally click the mouse when it is off...I noticed this when I was cleaning the dust off my desk. Sometimes it turns on, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it turns on if I press space. I don't know if any of this is relevant, I just think it's weird (again, not very tech-savvy).
I don't really know what to do next, I was thinking about taking the motherboard into warranty, getting my money back and just buying a better one, but I want to make sure the motherboard is the problem and not something else. I would really appreciate some ideas, please.
