Has anyone heard of PC Speed Maximizer? And, if so, is it any good?

This is what a friend of mine sent me about this PC Speed Maximizer: " a friend at Avanquest Software just sent me
a new PC speed booster program they just finished
    working on.

PC Speed Maximizer (download here) gets rid of
all the junk file residue and unnecessary programs
that run when Windows boots up and load your
    computer down.

The process was extremely easy to run and made a
HUGE speed improvement to Windows XP (also
works on Windows Vista). Up to 64% boot-up
speed improvement in our bench tests.

I HIGHLY recommend you give it a try ASAP!

    Here's the direct download link"

I don't know whether its the same one as you mentioned?

We do not reccommend you use these type of Optimizing programs or Regsitry cleaners- they do not do what they claim in many cases, and can often cause you further problems.

That is our advice, regardless of which program you were asking about....there just are not any that we can reccommend.

The only cleaning type utility we do support using, is a temp file cleaner- here is one: ATFCleaner

Stay away from all-in-one junk such as this. And watch out for peopole who think blogspot is a good place to search for answers.

What's the brand name, model name, and model number of your computer?

What version of Windows are you using in it?

What's the processor type and speed?

How much RAM does it have?

Go to Start - Run - MSCONFIG - OK - Startup(tab). How many entries are checked?

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Avoid registry cleaner/booster/optimizer/tuneup programs like the plague.

It all depends on how you use it.

Definitely stay away from the registry cleaner feature.

Yeah, I don't use registry cleaners. I learned that the hard way a few years ago. I clean it myself :)
