PC startup very slow and sluggish while working..

    Hi,
    i am having Win XP SP2,256 RAM. The problem is that when i stratup my pc in the morning,it takes so much time to boot up and even after start up,while working in a normal course,it takes more time then expected to perform an action.i have tried removing some processes from startup(msconfig) but still all in vain.i am posting hjt log here for reference.pl help me out...

    first of all upgrade the computer RAM to atleast 1 GB
    clear all the temp and prefetch files(start>run>temp>delete.)
    same for prefetch.
    perform diskcleanup(start>all programs>accessories>system tools>disk cleanup) on all the partition u have on the computer.

    u can also perform disk defragmentation(start>all programs>accessories>system tools>disk defragmentation.)

    u can also download and install pccleaner from www.pccleaner.com.

    restart the computer in safemode(restart and press F8 after post)if it is booting fast, then it could the problem with any software.

    chk your system antivirus.uninstall it and see if the system is booting fast.

    There may be 1 or 2 more that can be disabled, but I don't know what they are and what programs they're associated with.

    Besides the fact that your computer has only 256 MB of RAM(which will make it run like a snail, no matter how much you tweak it), you're in overkill with "boosters", "optimizers", etc.. They're not doing your computer any good, and are actually slowing it down because of the additional load that they place on the limited RAM.

    Except for the comment about adding more RAM, ignore the advice in post #2.

    You don't want to get rid of your antivirus program. You don't want to use "cleaners". You don't want to clean out the prefetch folder.

    You're using an old version(1.99.1) of HijackThis. Version 2.0.2 can be downloaded from here.

    You're using an old version(1.6.0.01) of Sun Java Runtime Environment. Version 1.6.0.07 can be downloaded from here.

    Download and save the new version. Uninstall all older versions in Add/Remove Programs. Go into C:\PROGRAM FILES\JAVA and delete any leftover folders from older versions. Install the new version. Go into MSCONFIG and uncheck the SunJavaUpdateSched jusched.exe startup entry. Restart your computer.
