My desktop computer absolutely will not boot. Every time I, I hit "Start Windows Normally" and I get a black screen, like it is getting frozen before the loading bar and the Microsoft logo fade on screen. While its on this screen, my computer's fan are still on and making tons of noise as if the processor was generating lots of heat.

Sometimes when i try to boot, i can faintly see the Microsoft logo, but just barely. It's very inconsistent.

When i try to boot from the installation CD, windows load the files and i get the exact same screen. Black, but slightly lit, so i am unable to run the repair tool.

It has done this once before, and eventually it just randomly worked for no apparent reason, however, i'm not getting so lucky this time.

I don't know if this is helpful, but if I try to boot into safemode it seems to get stuck after this driver: \windows\system32\drivers\crcdis.sys

Also, I built this desktop myself, and it is 64bit Windows Vista Home Premium. It's an AMD AthlonX2 based system.

Thank you so much for any help :D

Ironic isn't it? I just went through all the trouble of downloading from you link and burning the iso file, just to restart my desktop and it works.

Well, thanks a lot for the reply and i will definitely keep that disk around for the future.
