After a year of uni, my home pc hasn't been used in a while and when I do use it, it randomly shuts itself off whilst gaming or just browsing the internet, but the little green light is still on (not the large blue glowly rays of light that only makes the pc look pretty). So I figured it might be something to do with the heat, if it wasn't the heat the pc needed a fan clean anyways since I brought it 4-5 years ago and havn't cleaned it since.

So anyways I un-cased my pc (fujitsu siemen cases are such badly deisgned) and swept the dust off with a brush. I didn't touch anything else apart from the box with a fan in it that the power cord plugs into. All I did was unscrew the screws that mount the box onto the skeletal structure as I thought they held the outer case together, which it didn't.

So I plugged all the plugs back in the back of the pc and booted it up. Lights came on, the fans came on, I can hear it building a bit of power, then that's it, it stays that way, nothing on my monitor or anything. What I noticed missing from experience was the 'beep' noise when it powers on and the full whirling noise, I can hear a whirling noise but not to its full capacity.

I have no idea what's happened to my pc, have I accidently knocked something? But everything seems fine and in place. :S Help!

You need to reseat the ram and all the plugs and cables to be certain everything is tight. If nothing changes it sounds like you need a new power supply.
