I am getting a new laptop and the spec says it has 1xPCMCIA II slot. I'd say im pretty advanced with computer hardware, i've practically built my current desktop, but having never worked much with notebooks i dont know what this is for, could someone please explain..

    Thanks in advance,
    Metaphoric

p.s. and any idea about what a S/PDIF line out is, thanks again!

The PCMCIA slot is an interface for modems, NICs, wireless NICS, FLASH readers, etc. It's the business card sized device that's about 3/16" thick.

The S/PDIF is a serial digital audio interface for surround sound speakers.
