Performance problems with Firefox in latest ver of Win-10?

Could Windows 10 have been updating in the background? That would slow up whatever she was doing.

My original working theory was exactly that. But when I finally got my hands on the machine, I discovered that an update to 20H2 was pending, so I let the machine go ahead and do the update, which seems to have been completed normally. The discussion since my post #10 is all subsequent to that update, during which time I'm the only one who has touched the machine.

But, now you need to install 21H1
