    Hi all

Wondering if there is a permanent fix to "wuaueng.dll+0xa4f42" using all the cpu aside from disabling Automatic Updates in msconfig? Been hunting around for awhile but havent come up with anything yet....

    thanks

If using Xp Professional - not Home.

    cmd

A Command Prompt Window will open.
    At the flashing >
    Type
    tasklist

    Press Enter on the keyboard.
    Let it load processes.

Then click on C:\ at the top left of the command window.

    Download SINO by Artellos.

    • Save SINO to your desktop and run SINO.exe. (If you downloaded the ZIP version you will need to extract it first)
    • Then please check the following checkboxes:
      Code:
      Tasklist

    • Once checked, hit the Run Scan! button and wait for the program to finish the scan.
    • A notepad window will pop up. Please copy all of the content into your next reply.
Note: If you try to interact with the program once itÂ’s started scanning it might appear to hang. The scan however will continue.
    ======
Post a Hjt log - to see what is running on your system.
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/hijackthis/
    Download the EXE version.
    • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
    • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
    • Click on Install.
    • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
    • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
    • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
    • DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
    • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
