Permission, Access Denied

    i have copied a folder in external hard drive which is NTFS and now getting back an error generated access denied. and the color of all files in that folder is changed. the files are so important please help

    What program opens those files? Maybe the program used to open those files have been changed and the icon itself changed, not just the color. So for example you were using MS WordPad to write some 'doc' files. Now you install MS Word, and the file icons would be changed to the MS Word doc file icon.

    Using your admin account, you can use the command line program to 'takeown' the files. Then use the 'icacls' command to add your account to the list of allowed accounts.
