Persistent Boot Problems

Hi, Thanks for reading!

My PC is a 3 year old build from PCSpecialist. For the last two years I've had frequent boot problems, with my PC sometimes taking dozens of attempts to boot. The internal fans will start, but then power down before the PC beeps. These problems have got progressively worse, and now my PC will not boot. When I turn the power on at the wall, the fans will start, but then power down. When I press the power button, nothing happens.

I have opened the case and cleaned out the fans, and checked all of the internal connections with no improvement. I've also removed all the external hardware and peripherals. I'd appreciate any suggestions and I'm happy to answer any questions or provide details.

Thanks!

The VS series from corsair is their lowest quality unit and not really up to any stressful endeavor. The VS and CX series are for basic builds.
Swap in a known good pw supply for testing. Note you do not have to fully install the test unit. Simply connect atx, cpu/aux, and video pw [if used] Hit the ON button and see if the motherboard will complete POST. If it does, shutdown and install a new, quality pw supply.

Thank you! Do you have a PS you would recommend?

Before you replace any other parts, give this a try;
1 System OFF and pw cord removed, remove the side cover
2 Reseat ie remove and replace both atx and aux/cpu pw connectors. When you have them OFF, give both the connector and the socket a very close inspection with a bright light. Look for any burn marks or arcing
3 Replace the pw connectors and be sure they are fully seated
4 Remove all ram and blow the slots out with a can of air [available at any computer store, office store or even walmart
5 Install the ram and be sure it is fully seated in the slot or slots. Replace the pw cord and attempt to pw ON

Thank you! I replaced all the power connectors at the same time as the psu, I reseated them and found no marks/signs of arcing. I also reseated the gpu and ram after cleaning with compressed air and removed/replaced the motherboard battery to reset.

The PC is still powering the fans land lights on and then shutting down before the bleep. At this point I plan to take it to a repair shop once covid-19 isn't an issue, bit I'd be happy to hear anything else I can try first! Tha k you so much for your help

You can try the following and see if the board will POST;
1 Pw OFF, open the case and pull the pw connectors from ALL drives; both hd and optical
2 Disconnect any usb device ie printer, scanner, hub, etc. Leave the keyboard connected
3 If you have any add-in cards [excepting the video] remove them. This would be something like a lan card, sound, etc. You may not have any add-in cards and that is fine
4 Now attempt to pw ON and see if the board will complete POST. If it does, restart a few times to make sure it is really OK. If successful, then shutdown and start connecting devices one at a time until you find the failed part. If the board will not POST, you are pretty much down to the motherboard, ram or processor causing the problem.
