i bought some new DVD-R, philips brand dvds, tried burning one of my movies to a DVD with my Pacific Digital Mach-8 8x burner, but it wouldn't work. then i read the label on the dvds and it said i might have to go www.dvdhs.com for a firmware upgrade, but i go to the site and it just has a bunch of links that go to nothing. does anybody know where i can get the upgrade?

Might just not like those discs.

Use this to find a firmware update:

    Some comments:

    For Pacific Digital Mach8 buyers:

If the serial number on the box starts with P, then it is a BTC 1008IM.

If the serial number starts with numbers then it is a LiteOn.

    Mine is a rebadged Lite-On 811S.

    Just a hint if its a rebadged 811s I wouldn't go near the DVD-R media with a 10 foot pole..The older liteon's like dvd+r's.....
