Does the drive work on any other computer?

Edit: Oh I see that its not a flash drive but an external hard drive. First thing is still to test it on another computer to see if its the drive unit or the computer thats the issue.

External Hard Disk Drive won't work
I have a Philips External Hard Disk Drive (SPD5420/SPD5430) that recently quit working. I had used it for the majority of the day then all of a sudden the little purple light turned off. I have plugged it into other drives and it still wont work. When plugged into my pc, it says "please insert disk into drive F." I've tried changing the path and that won't work either. Anyone know if i can possibly recover my files from this drive?

Disk Management

XP -Yes - when I try to access it I get a "insert a disk" message

Seven - as a seperate device- but not one I can format or transfer files to or from

Cable

This is a 1 inch hdd - bigger than a flash drive but it has a built in usb conector than flips out of the unit- so no a cable won't solve this

Thanks again Tom

Unfortunately when these types of devices fail there's little that can be done.
