Physical Memory Dump In Windows XP Pro

I am running Windows XP Professional. I tried to install some new ram I just bought. ( DDR 2100 256MB ). The bios shows that i have 256 megs of ram but as soon as windows gets up I get a physical memory dump with the message "Registry Error". Is there any way to find out what the problem is and/or would doing a clean install of my system solve the problem? Any information would be very helpful. Thank you!

Hiya and Welcome

Have you tried taking the new memory out and seeing if the error comes up again? Also, is this the correct RAM for your PC? Do you know the make and version of your MotherBoard?
