Please bear with me as I'm new here
I have a faithful Canon Ip6600d that has decided to stop printing pictures. My computer is on Windows7 64bit. This combination has worked perfectly for years.
Today I was doing a print job that comprised word documents and pictures. I found that the word pages printed perfectly but pictures failed to print.
Since then I have satisfactorily printed the test page and Word documents and the quality is as normal.
On sending pictures to the printer nothing has changed, the red bar moves across the screen showing the computer has sent something, but nothing happens at the printer and nothing shows in Pending jobs.
I have not changed any settings at all. I have checked all cables and connections and there don't appear to be any problems. All inks are good.
Obviously the computer and printer are talking but somehow pictures are getting lost.
Please will you suggest what has happened and how I can fix it.
Thanks Dave for the reply.
I have no idea if the printer has changed to print text only. I have not intentionally changed anything, in fact I don't even know how to change what the printer prints. Can you advise on that? Is it changed on the computer or the printer? Can I have changed it acidentally?
I use Word 2007 but Word is not the problem, that prints OK.
I'm not sure about your last line. Can you explain? I just press control + P and it happens (well it did)
Is there any mileage in reinstalling the printer?
It's all very odd, the printer works, the computer works they are just not talking.
Open your browser and get to a site with graphics and see what happens when you print it out?
Google.com is a short page and has graphics, or even Bing.com
Hi Dave,
I have opened Bing and printed the first page that came up. It printed as it came up on the screen without a problem including the Bing graphic.
I have found the original printer installation disc. Is there any mileage in deleting it then reinstalling it?
There was a setting within Word 2007, that turned off the printing of Graphics.
try
File>Options>Display>Printing options, make sure that you have check marks in the boxes for "Print drawings created in Word" and "Print background colors and images"
Hope this helps!
If this does not work is it just this file or ALL Word documents?
Hi Dave, I have followed your suggestion and both boxes are ticked. Unfortunately I still have the same problem.
Anything in Word including pictures inserted into the document will print without a problem. The problem is that it will not print photos (JPEGS) that have always printed in the past.
At least we know that the two things are at least communicating up to a point.
Hello again,
I have finally got to the bottom of the problem.
Someone suggested that I installed Infranview, something I had never heard of. Well I have done that which has replaced the Microsoft Picture Viewer. The result is that I can now print pictures.
It seems the fault lay with MPV but what it was I have no idea.
Unfortunately I did not twig that to print text you don't need MPV which is why that printed and real pictures didn't.
I would like to thank you for your help with this.
Mike
