pictures not showing up in windows explorer?

    I have the exact same issue but this didnt work for me. It was already unchecked. I still get the message stating "Windows photo viewer can't open this picture because either photo viewer doesnt support this format or you dont have the latest updates to photo viewer". Please help me.

    What is the extension on the picture you are trying to open? (The 3 letters after the dot)

    If you don't have file extensions showing, here is how to enable it to see exactly what kind of pictures you are trying to open.
    1. Click on the orb (old start button)
    2. Type show hidden in the search/run box and hit enter.
    3. In the box that comes up, look for Hide extensions for known file types.
    4. Remove the checkmark/tick in front of it.
    5. Click Apply then close that box.
