I'm having an issue with my PC running slow. When I check CPU utilization I see PING.EXE using a lot of CPU. Aso, when I open a new website a second website will also open up. I'm running AVG as a virus protector. I have down loaded TDSSKILLER and STOPZILLA but neither one of them has fixed the problem.

I also get a message stating that I have a corrut file....WER23EB.DIR00.....It says to run a Check Disk....when I try that it says it will run the next time I start the PC....it never kicks off.

I have a Gateway desktop PC running windows XP.

I just ran VIPRER Security and it showed 5 errors found (1 in a folder and 4 files) with 0 cleaned.

Thanks in advance for your help and support
