    First Name:
If you plan to do a clean install of Windows 7 SP1 in your computer, this install and update guide will be helpful to you and will save you time and will reduce frustration.
I've done 200+ clean installs of Windows 7 SP1 during the past several years, and this guide was created during that time and has been kept up-to-date.
Steps #4 through #6 are very important and need to be done in the same order that they're listed.
Make sure to restart your computer after completing each of those 3 steps, even if you're not prompted to do so.

Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 7 SP1 after the January 2020 "patch Tuesday", so there's been increasingly more fearmongering about upgrading to Windows 10.
As what happened with Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista SP2, it may be possible to extend the end-of-life(EOL) of Windows 7 SP1 by more than a year.
I plan to test this after the February 2020 "patch Tuesday" to determine if it's true.
