I USE WIN ME. WITH MY OLD MEDIA PLAYER (VER 7 ? ) I COULD PLAY BACK VOB FILES (DVD MOVIE FILES) THAT I HAD RIPPED TO MY HARD DRIVE. uPON DOWNLOADING VERSION 9 I CAN NO LONGER OPEN VOB FILES, AND GET AN ERROR MESSAGE WHEN I TRY.
FROM WITHIN WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER THERE IS A LINK THAT TAKES ME TO PLUGGINS THAT WILL DO THIS, BUT THOSE PLUGGINS ALL STATE THAT THEY ARE FOR WIN XP. WILL THOSE SAME PLUGGINS WORK IN ME, OR ARE THERE OTHERS THAT I SHOULD DOWNLOAD?
THANKS

We don't help with with illegal stuff here, and DVD ripping is sort of a gray-area. I understand that you own a legal copy of the DVD, but ripping it is still illegal because it uses DeCSS to crack the encryption. So im not sure if I should be helping you here.

That aside, those plugins won't work for you, however PowerDVD will play VOB files for you.

I HAVE POWER DVD, AND THIS MAY SOUND WEIRD BUT MORE THAN ONCE i HAVE HAD A VOB FILE WHICH POWER DVD REFUSED TO OPEN, BUT WHICH WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER WOULD OPEN. ( I BELIEVE THAT THESE MAY CONTAIN SOME INCORRECT INFO\DAMGED INFO, i'M NOT SURE)
FOR THIS REASON I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS FEATURE BACK AGAIN.
IF THERE IS NOT A WAY TO MAKE MEDIA PLAYER 9 DO THIS, DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS A WAY TO RETURN TO MEDIA PLAYER 7?
FINALLY IT IS NOT MY INTENT TO BREAK ANY RULES OF THIS FORUM, SO JUST FOR THE RECORD I GUESS I SHOULD ASK...
I THOUGHT IT IS ONLY ILLEGAL TO TO RIP COPY PROTECTED DVD'S TO HARD DRIVE? I NEVER SAID THAT THIS DVD'S IN QUESTION WERE COPY PROTECTED, OR USED ANY FORM OF ENCRYPTION ENCRYPTION :)
THANKS FOR THE HELP YOU HAVE GIVEN, AND I APPRECIATE ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE. FINALLY I WOULD HATE TO GET KICKED OUT OF THIS FORUM ON MY FIRST DAY, IF YOU BELIEVE THAT THIS QUESTION IS STILL INNAPPROPRIATE FOR THIS FORUM, , PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO REMOVE THE POST.
