Scammers make their money getting people to do stuff that gives them access to sensitive information or gets them paid for doing something bogus.

Hanging up on them is fun - but it means they have the ability to hurt someone else who may not be as savvy as you.

One way to fight back is to waste their time. They rely on turn over of clients and if they are talking to you they are earning less -which should hurt them somewhat.

Now I get bored at times pretending to do what I am told so have invented or tried out some games to play with them.

My favourite - The Yes Game.
How long can you hold them on the line only saying the word Yes (or language equivalent) My record is 22 minutes. Vary the way you say yes and tone of voice etc. Its amazing how far you can go.

Scammer> Hi I'm bob from microsoft
    Me < Yes.
    Scammer>Are you near a computer
    Me < Yes
Scammer>Can you turn it on and browse to the internet ... got a virus .. blah blah . license key .. blah blah
    Me < Yes.
Scammer>Now i need you to browse to xxxxx
    Me < Yes.
    Scammer>Can you see xxxx
    Me < Yes.
    ....
    Scammer>I cant see you
    Me < Yes
    Scammer>Have you browsed to ...
    Me < Yes.
    Scammer>I still cant see you
    Me < Yes.
    .....
Scammer>Can you say anything else but yes?
    Me < Yes.
Scammer>Are you making fun of me?
Me < YES!!!!! Bhwa ha ha ha ha

Anyone else got methods for annoying these prats?

Yup - leave them to steal and rob from the less suspecting.

All that is required for evil to triumph is that good (wo)men do nothing.
