    2 problems

first, i bought an optical audio cable to output sound to my PC's audio card. the cable is really loose feeling, i tried pushing it in pretty hard but doesnt go in any further, i tried leaving it as is but i have no sound through my computer. (my audio card is AC-1 barracuda, i'm trying to use my HP-1 headphones which is connected via the hdai ouput, i connected the optical to the input but its connection is just as loose as it is on the PS3) i also have optical settings turned ON.
surely its not suppose to be so loose that it slides out on its own does it?

next, i bought a PS3 componant cable which supports 1080p. my monitor is a Gateway FPD2475W...a 24" with 1900x1200 native resolution.

ok so under my PS3 settings when i choose 1080p, the screen flashes green when testing, however 1080i works normal.

so is my monitor not supporting 1080p? or is my componant cable?...do i need custom resolution to 1900x1080 or something?

Instead of using an optical cable, buy a HDMI PS3 cable which enables you to do what your optical cable does plus 1080p resolution. They are only about $70 but lets you have HD Video and Sound... that is, if your computer can support HDMI cables which i am not sure about...

    Hope this helps...
