Here is my log. It's hard to describe what's wrong with computer. Just slow, have a hard time getting on internet sometimes, and can't get certain things to work. I run AVG which is updated, but not sure what else I need installed to get rid of all the yucky things!

Your computer is in a very outdated condition and has a number of problems that need to be resolved.

Do the following in the order that I've listed them.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Go to Control Panel - Programs And Features.

Uninstall HiJackThis 2.0.2 - which is a very old version.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Go here and click the green "Download latest version" link to download and save HiJackThis 2.0.4

After it's been downloaded and saved, close all open windows first, then double-click it to install it.

Allow it to install in its default location - C:\Program Files.

After it's been installed, start it and allow its main window to load.

Uncheck "Do not show this window when I start HiJackThis".

Close it and don't run any scan with it yet.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Download and save and then install the free version of

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.70.0.1100

SUPERAntiSpyware 5.6.0.1014

Make sure to update their definition files during the install process.

Make sure to uncheck and decline to install any extras, such as toolbars and homepages, they may offer.

Make sure to uncheck and decline to use the "Pro" or "Trial" version, if it's offered.

After they're installed and updated, restart the computer.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

Click "Scanner(tab) - Perform quick scan - Scan".

If infections or problems are found during the scan, the number of them will be highlighted in red.

When the scan is finished, click "Show Results".

Make sure that EVERYTHING is selected, then click "Remove Selected".

If you're prompted to restart to finish the removal process, click "Yes".

Start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware again.

Click "Logs"(tab).

Highlight the scan log entry, then click "Open".

When the scan log appears in Notepad, copy-and-paste it here.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Start SUPERAntiSpyware.

Select the "Quick Scan" option, then click "Scan your Computer".

If infections or problems are found during the scan, a list will appear and the number of them will be highlighted in red.

When the scan is finished and the scan summary window appears, click "Continue".

Make sure that EVERYTHING in the list is selected, then click "Remove Threats".

Click "OK - Finish".

If you're prompted to restart to finish the removal process, do so.

Start SUPERAntiSpyware again.

Click "View Scan Logs".

Highlight the scan log entry, then click "View Selected Log".

When the scan log appears in Notepad, copy-and-paste it here.

Before going any further please do the following:

Please run the MGA Diagnostic Tool and post back the report it creates:
  • Download MGADiag to your desktop.
  • Double-click on MGADiag.exe to launch the program
  • Click "Continue"
  • Ensure that the "Windows" tab is selected (it should be by default).
  • Click the "Copy" button to copy the MGA Diagnostic Report to the Windows clipboard.
  • Paste the MGA Diagnostic Report back here in your next reply.

Start HiJackThis 2.0.4.

Click "Do a system scan and save a log file".

Save the new log that appears.

Copy-and-paste the entire log here.

What's the brand name, model name, and model number of that computer?

Where did you obtain the operating system that's loaded on this machine?

If it came pre-installed where did you obtain the computer?

It was preinstalled when I bought it. I don't remember where, but it was either circuit city or best buy
I got it years ago.

Have you ever reloaded Windows on it since you bought it?

It appears to be a widely published key obtainable on the Internet.

Nope, I answered your question right above my highjack log. Everything was preinstalled. I don't even know how to install software, besides a download or a cd. Besides downloading avg and other things, I have done nothing with the operating system

What's the brand name, model name, and model number of that computer?
Are you going to answer my question in post #9?

According to this log entry:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SynTPEnh] C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe

it's obviously a laptop and not a desktop.
