I have not done one of these in a long time and was wondering if someone could take a look at it for me. Thank you.

Please unzip HijackThis.exe into its own folder, eg. C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe
or alternatively, download the executable again.

Print out these instructions if necessary.

    Open HijackThis

    Close all browser/email/explorer windows.

Click on "Open the Misc Tools section" button
Then click the "Main" button (in the top left corner)

Change "Default Start Page" to your desired homepage, eg.
    http://www.yahoo.com

Click the "Back" button (bottom right corner)
and then click the "Scan" button

Place a checkmark next to the following entries only
    and click "Fix checked":

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaults/stp/ymsgr6/*http://www.yahoo.com

    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaults/stp/ymsgr6/*http://www.yahoo.com

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaults/stp/ymsgr6/*http://www.yahoo.com

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] RUNDLL32.exe "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll",cdaEngineMain

    ___________________________________________________________________

The following are all legit, but do not need to be loading at startup.
You can optionally checkmark these as well to free up a few resources.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NeroFilterCheck] C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_01\bin\jusched.exe

    O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE

    ___________________________________________________________________

O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'connwsp.dll' missing

Apparently, this is some kind of bug in HJT and there's no need to fix that entry.
    http://forums.techguy.org/t199405.html
    http://www.angeltowns.com/members/zupe/lsps.html

connwsp.dll is part of Pure Networks Port Magic, and is safe/legit
    http://computercops.biz/lsp-11.html

    ___________________________________________________________________

You can permanently disable the Windows memory dump report (O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck]) by going to: System Control Panel > Advanced > Startup and Recovery "Settings", and change "write debugging information" to "None" (c/o drop-down menu).

    ___________________________________________________________________

Go to Add/Remove Programs Control Panel
and if there's an entry for anything "Wild Tangent", uninstall it.

    Reboot (preferably to safe mode)
and delete the "C:\Program Files\Wild Tangent" folder.

I also recommend that you install (at least) Spybot SD and Adaware SE, and run the scans, as these two are still the pick of the best.

It would not let me get rid of the 2 "R0" or "R1". They just keep comming back. I even tried to get rid of them in safe mode. It would say that it was gone then a few minutes it poped back to it. I tried to click the link and it sent me to the right home page url. I never get any other home page other then I one I want.
