This computer is a dinosaur! Sometimes I wanna chunk it out the door. Ok, so I'm pretty sure I have a virus. My AVG 7.1 expired and for three days I have had no protection. I tried to install AVG 7.5 after downloading it but it popped up a box that said it couldn't be installed because access is denied. This cop has Win 98 and cannot be upgraded to anything else due to slow processor speed and lack of space. Here is my log. Can anyone help me?:(

There has to be more. That's only showing the running processes.
    Launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.

    Rescan with Hijack This.
Close all browser windows except Hijack This.
Put a check mark beside these entries and click "Fix Checked".

it is a emachine e tower 366id intel pentium ll processor with 160 mb of ram. i know i probably need more memory or something, but until I do so I want to fix it up some. there seems to be no space or memory. I wish I knew how to take some stuff off of it. I only use it for typing letters and the internet and printing a few pictures. I am fixing to go and buy a new computer though and this one will be formy daughter to use. Can you recommend how to kind of clean it out some to free up space. If I only wanted to use it forthe internet and maybe a cd rom game ortwo, couldn't I get rid of more things? I know this goes way off the topic i began with, I appreciate your time. Also, do I have a virus? I can't seem to install the new anti virus, so I think I'm on here withnone at all. Thanks

I'd start by uninstalling any unnecessary programs you don't use.
AVG 7.5 is not compatible with Windows 98.
I think Avast is though (free too): http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Edition/3000-2239_4-10019223.html
You'd have to go with a free one, most ones you purchase these days will only work with Windows 2000 or XP.
Has the system been defragged lately?
