 Hello! I'm in desperate need of some help. I am new here.
I was about to go on vacation Friday and my computer started acting weird. I have Windows ME.

When I attempt to click on icons and most links, I get the following:

Explorer has caused an error in ycomp5_3_11_0.DLL

Then, when I click the error box, it immediately shows another error saying:

Explorer has caused an error in kernnel32.DLL

I have ad-aware, Hijackthis, Spybot, cwshredder, Norton, and even a firewall (Zone Alarm). I have run a scan disc and a defrag.

Please help me with this situation before I flay a vein! This is a nightmare.
    :-(

I didn't have time on Friday to do much of anything. But since coming back yesterday, we've been trying to get this sorted out and I'm at a dead end.

Even when I got the email as my confirmation for joining this website, I had to copy and paste it into my browser. And I can only get to the internet when I go onto one of the icons on my desktop that will give me access. Other icons gives me the errors I mentioned above. And forget about email links and things like that. Even some links that I need to click on just to download all the spybot and ad-ware, etc. It's like I have to take a backdoor way to get to things.

    Help...please help....

I've gone to hijackthis and here is my log....

You need to seriously trim down the startup load. You have way too many programs loading during startup and running in the background. Read my article on MSCONFIG.

Hello, thank you for responding. How do I go about trimming down the programs? I mean, where do I go to get to that option? Is running all those programs causing this problem?
I tried to go to the link that telecom69 provided but couldn't get in.

Okay....I've been poking around and found how to trim down the amount of things I have running, as well as at set up. Thank you for that tip. (I'm so blonde)

I'm still having the same problem with that kernnel32 error...as well as the first error that I mentioned in my original post. I just don't know what else to do. This is so frustrating.
Thank you to those who have responded.

    Good morning...
Telecom69 - I did respond to you about your link. One of my problems was that my computer would not let me click on links like that. There were icons and links that I couldn't touch without getting those errors. I had to copy and paste addresses into my browser and go from there.
However, every time I tried to go to that link you provided, it would say that the page couldn't be displayed.

    But.....THE PROBLEM IS NOW FIXED......

Last week, the night before this nightmare began, my printer ran out of paper. No big deal...loaded it with paper and... nothing.
My printer kept indicating it was out of paper.

The very next day is when my computer started doing those errors with the kernnel32 and the other error I mentioned in my OP.
I couldn't click on links, icons, and I had to find a 'backdoor' way to navigate the best I could.

Great....this meant I had TWO problems to contend with and I was on my way out the door for a mini-vacation.

When I got back I poked on the internet (the best I could) and I found this site.

Last night my husband finally had time to look at my printer. He couldn't get it to work. So he gave me HIS printer. He loaded the software and voila!....I had a printer again.
Also, the computer problem disappeared as tho it never happened.
    Who knew?

I would have never made the connection between the computer and the printer. The printer 'rollers' just wouldn't turn to accept the paper....yet my computer kept getting kernnel32 errors when I tried to click on things.

So, now I can click on links and icons till the cows come home.
    I'm healed!!!

Thank you very much, those of you who posted suggestions. I also trimmed down the things my computer loads at start-up. Everything is purring like a kitten.
    :)
